The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
