Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks his maiden title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from spring of the previous year.
Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on court had caused some to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serve.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.
He rescued 4 early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
