Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in Queensland's southeast found themselves experiencing outages on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the area, bringing powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Massive Ice Stones and Extensive Impact
Locals witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency response teams handled 598 emergency reports across the area, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At one point on yesterday, in excess of 28k energy customers in the state were without power.

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along significant areas of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coast.
Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk anticipated across multiple regions of both regions.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This alert comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
